Overview

PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship (JBC) is an annual property of the Company, which aims to take Badminton to the grassroots. This initiative, in association with CRY NGO, aims to promote health and fitness among consumers by conducting nation-wide badminton tournaments involving under-privileged children. During FY 2018-19, coaching and training on badminton were provided to 64 underprivileged children from across the country to participate in the Junior Badminton Championship 4 (JBC 4). Out of this 64 children, 16 children were awarded with an annual sponsorship to pursue Badminton.

For the upcoming Junior Badminton Championship 5 (JBC 5) tournament, 100 selected children from across Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata are currently undergoing coaching and training. The top 32 children from the JBC 5 tournament will be provided with one-year scholarships to pursue Badminton.

PNB MetLife JBC 2019 Is A Junior Badminton Open Tournament, Recognized By BAI. It Is Open For All BAI Registered And Non Registered Junior Badminton Players In The Age Group Of 7-17 Years. PNB MetLife JBC 2019 Will Be Played Across 10 Cities: New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Pune, Lucknow, Guwahati, Ahmedabad & Kochi. National Finals Will Be Played In Delhi.

Categories & Age Cut-Off

- Under 9 Category (Boys & Girls): Eligibility - Player/Participant should be born on or after 1-1-2011
- Under 11 Category (Boys & Girls): Eligibility - Player/Participant should be born on or after 1-1-2009
- Under 13 Category (Boys & Girls): Eligibility - Player/Participant should be born on or after 1-1-2007
- Under 15 Category (Boys & Girls): Eligibility - Player/Participant should be born on or after 1-1-2005
- Under 17 Category (Boys & Girls): Eligibility - Player/Participant should be born on or after 1-1-2003

Tournament Format

- All matches (singles event) will be played on the knockout basis.
- All events will be played according to a knockout system.
- Each player, will play 11 points best of 3 games (based on the number of entries received)
- Quarter Final, Semi Final & Finals will be of 15 points best of 3 games (more information given in scoring format below)
- Players/participants are restricted to play in maximum three (3) categories (as per the Mentioned age category) in this proposed event.

Groups & Draws

Winners & runners-up from each age category (boys & girls) will automatically qualify for national finals.

Playing Equipment & Attire

- Shuttles will be provided by Organizer.
- Players have to arrange for their own badminton racquets.
- Shoes with dark soles will not be allowed in the venue. Only shoes with gum soles, canvass soles or full white soles will be allowed.
- Participants should be dressed appropriately in T-Shirt/polo, shirt/ Shorts/skirt. Inappropriate clothing (amongst other items) includes jeans, flip flops/sandals and beach/Bermuda shorts.
- The Referee will decide if a player is inappropriately dressed.
- Brandings/sponsorship/player/state-names on playing apparels as per BAI guidelines.

Registration Fees

- Rs. 500 for Boys Singles & Girls Singles for all 10 categories.
- Payment mode Cash or Online.
- All participants have to do registration before entering the venue.
- Food box will be provided to all participants during lunch time, 12.30 pm to 2.00 pm

Prizes & Awards

- Prize money & other attractive awards/prizes will be given to winners, runners up & semi-finalists in all mentioned categories (single events- boys/girls)
- Participation certificates will be given to all participants.
- PNB MetLife JBC 5 to be organised in the 4 (four) main zones (east, west, north & south) covering 10 cities of the country. All finalists from 10 cities of different age categories will qualify for the national grand finale to take place in New Delhi/NCR.
- Attractive awards and prizes to be given to all winners, runners up and semi-finalists of this grand finale.
- Prize money will be given in the national grand finale of JBC, 2019.
- 32 underprivileged children will be supported for yearlong training. This is an initiative of PNB MetLife.

Terms

- A request for registration in the Championship shall be construed as an acceptance of the terms and conditions stipulated herein.
- The Participant shall ensure that participation is in compliance with the eligibility criteria and as per applicable law and the Organizer and event sponsor shall in no manner be liable in this regard.
- All participants need to carry their Aadhaar card or any age proof document issued by the Govt. of India to the venue.
- Age of the participating player will be determined solely basis the valid date of birth proof document/ID/certificate produced.
- Entries without registration fees will not be displayed in the draw.
- Draws for match fixtures will be held two days before the proposed dates of the Championship.
- Complete draws and fixtures will be displayed at pnbmetlifejbc.com and on the notice board at the venue.
- The participants should report to the venue 30 minutes before the starting of the match.
- All matches will be played according to the scheduled time displayed on the notice board at the venue.
- Walkover will be given in case the player does not report at the scheduled time.
- All the matches will be singles event.
- All matches will be played on knockout basis.
- All matches to be played for 11 points best of 3 games with no extension till quarterfinals. Semi Finals & Finals to be played for 15 points best of 3 games with no extension.
- The maximum participation permitted for an individual participant is up to three (3) categories (as per the age categories mentioned above).
- Participant participated in one venue will not be permitted to participate for the same event in another venue.
- The entire Championship will be organized in the following Indian cities during the months of July, August & September 2019.
- Proposed city wise Championship dates: Chandigarh – July 9th – 12th, Mumbai – July 21st – 25th, Pune – July 27th – 31st, Kochi – Aug 2nd – 5th, Bangalore – Aug 7th – 11th, Guwahati – Aug 10th – 13th, Hyderabad – Aug 24th – 28th, Ahmedabad – Aug 19th – 22nd, Lucknow – Aug 30th – Sep 1st, Delhi – Sept 3rd – 7th.
- National Finale will be held at New Delhi in month of September 2019.
- Championship Organizer/Sponsor, its/their officers, employees, directors or affiliates shall not be liable or responsible for any kind of bodily injury sustained by the player(s) during the game on or off the court. In any such event, the organizing committee / Organizer will provide first aid facility on a best effort basis.
- Championship Organizer / Sponsor its / their officers, employees, directors or affiliates shall not be liable or responsible for any type of accident or loss of life suffered by the participants.
- The participation in the Championship is at the sole discretion of the participant and his / her natural guardian / guardian under their own free will and Organizer does not force anyone to participate in this contest.
- The decision of the Championship committee will be final and binding on all matters related to the Championship and the participants.
- Any protest regarding decision of the umpire will not be entertained during the match. Such protest/request can be referred to chief referee. Request for line judges, cannot be entertained.
- All participants and parents are required to maintain proper decorum, behavior and ideal atmosphere for conducting the Championship. They are also expected to maintain cleanliness at the venue.
- Any indecent or rebellious behavior from the side of the participant will lead to expulsion from the Championship without any further notice. The decision of the chief referee or the organizing committee will be final on this count.
- For entertaining any protest from a participating player, a remittance of a non-refundable protest fee of INR 1000/- (Indian Rupees One Thousand Only) is a pre-condition.
- However, it is made clear that protesting / protested player must play / have played the scheduled match from which the protest is stemming.
- The Organizer, its sponsor their employees, officers and directors stand indemnified in respect of any such protest related to over age issue.
- Demand of on the spot medical (protest related) if made by any protesting player / parent during or before the match will not be entertained.
- By registering for and participating in Championship, the participant is expressly providing his / her consent to receive Championship related information and promotional messages via SMS, WhatsApp or Email from the Championship Sponsor.
- By registering for and participating in the Championship, the participant expressly and irrevocably consents and authorizes the Championship Sponsor to use the name, quotes and/or photos and images of the participant on the Internet (World Wide Web), in print publications, video and multimedia presentations for promotion and marketing of the Championship and allied activities.
- In the event of any dispute or difference arising out of or in any way relating to or concerning all these events, the same shall be referred to arbitration. The arbitration panel shall comprise of a single arbitrator to be appointed by Championship Sponsor. The place and venue of the arbitration shall be Mumbai. The decision of the arbitrator shall be final and binding on the parties to any dispute. Subject to the arbitration provisions, the courts at Mumbai shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

- Note: The result of the Championship is not likely to be considered by BAI for the purposes of their ranking.
